Anja Berretta is Head of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Sub-Saharan Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.

In this position, she is responsible for the realization of activities around the nexus of energy security and climate change in all Sub-Saharan countries. Ms. Berretta emphasizes the geopolitical relevance of climate change throughout all of KAS activities and is increasingly working on the correlation between decarbonization and geopolitics.  

Prior to this position, she worked as an evaluation and monitoring advisor at KAS Germany and as an evaluation and learning manager at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy in the UK. She holds a Master Degree in European Studies and International Relations as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Development and Cooperation from ETH Zürich. Ms. Berretta has a strong interest in the impact and sustainability of development cooperation.
